Private Rented Sector Database: rollout tracker for England landlords

What the government has confirmed, what remains to be set and what data landlords can organise now.

In brief

The government roadmap says regional rollout of the PRS Database will begin from late 2026. Registration is intended to become mandatory, but fees, regional timing and detailed information requirements are being confirmed through regulations and rollout guidance.

01

What has been announced

The roadmap anticipates landlord and property details plus safety information such as gas, electrical and energy certificates. Public access is expected after landlord registration begins.

02

What not to assume

Do not state that registration is already open everywhere, quote an unconfirmed fee or rely on a single national deadline. The rollout is regional and official updates should be checked for the property location.

03

What to organise now

Keep ownership, contact, property, occupancy and certificate information accurate and exportable. Good records will reduce effort regardless of the final registration interface.
